After several years of not-so-great, but making-the-best-of-it 4th of Julys, we wanted to make sure we were (a) not camping this year, and (b) had plenty of amenities, so we returned to Sugar Lake Lodge in Grand Rapids.
Probably the best thing for me was having each one of my sisters there - it doesn't happen that often anymore and it truly made me happy :)
On arrival day, we headed straight for the beach, took some time on the paddle boats, and grilled some brats!
On the second day, we found out there was a Kids Kamp each morning from 9-2 provided by the resort! Best. Thing. Ever. We sent the boys on their way, the guys enjoyed a round of golf and we took part in some serious beach time :-)
Later on, we pulled out the beersbee (which I really love to play), but my involvement did not last long. Everything was fine and dandy, until my fourth wild Frisbee throw skimmed the neighbors hedge and tookout their wine bottle.....game over.

Moving on from beersbee, the ladies decided to take on Giant Drinking Jenga!
| Home Run! |
| Sonja picking up the pieces.....literally. |
After the fun and games, we headed down to the water for the dance party and fireworks! Sugar Lake has the best fireworks display (besides Duluth). The highlight for me was the Harlem Shake during the fireworks :-)
The third day was rainy and foggy, but that didn't keep us away from the water. We took the pontoon out and jumped off in the middle of the lake.

After coming back in from being on the lake, we put together a flag dessert (tradition) for the family fish fry that evening, along with some individual sangria. Chad headed up the fish fry and we all cozied into one cabin for a great dinner!
The last morning before we left, we headed down to the beach for some final water time. It was such a fun extended weekend and so nice to have our whole family together!

Looks like a great time! I bit jealous (in a good way) of all the family fun!
